Potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) is a potent oxidizer used to disinfect water by removing iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide. In medicine it treats fungal and bacterial skin conditions via dilute topical solutions. It’s also used in analytical titrations, tissue bleaching for amyloid detection, aquaculture sanitation, textile bleaching, and chemical synthesis.
